Kristen Fraser Counselling Newcastle
The Full Story
I started my career when I graduated from The University of Sydney in 2003 with a Bachelor of Social Work and quickly discovered my passion for connecting through conversation. 20 years on, many powerful conversations later and continued additional training in evidence based therapeutic models, I am excited to be providing psychological counselling in Newcastle, NSW.

Connection
I can tailor my approach to your needs and goals. By providing a safe connection, you can grow, try new things, and practice new skills. Whether you are after practical strategies, problem solving, self reflection or
emotional growth, I will meet you where you are at. We can collaborate, merging my clinical expertise with your goals.

Ease Emotional Pain
I have a particular passion around supporting people through stress, depression, anxiety, burnout and trauma, developed through years of working in Employment Assistance Programs where I was able to refine my therapeutic training.

Skill Building
Sometimes we feel stuck and not sure why. I can facilitate decision making conversations and provide tools and strategies around learning or practising skills such as boundary setting, communication skills, enriching relationship skills, emotional regulation and parenting.

Life Situations and Transitions
I have experience supporting people through grief and loss, including life transitions such as a diagnosis. From early on in my career with Dementia Australia and Guide Dogs NSW, I have assisted people diagnosed with early stage dementia and their families, and later with people with low vision or blindness to navigate a new way of living.

Giving Back and Not For Profit
Not-for-profit work has been a theme in my career. In line with my values, I currently provide counselling for Canteen Australia, a not-for-profit organisation, ensuring young people aged 12-25 affected by cancer can access free therapeutic support.

Mutual Understanding
I am driven by ensuring my clients feel well supported to achieve their mental wellbeing goals. If I am not a fit for you, I can help you find a mental health professional who might be.
Sometimes the hardest part is starting a conversation. If you would like support why not send an email today, we never know where a conversation might take us.

My local Newcastle counselling service is available via telehealth and in our purpose built counselling rooms located in Merewether, with free street parking and full accessibility.
